Chesterfield came from behind to beat Altrincham 2-1 away from home and move to the top of the National League. A goal on the stroke of half-time from Toby Mullarkey gave the hosts the lead but early second-half goals from Tyrone Williams and Kabongo Tshimanga secured all three points for the Spireites.

Alfreton Town slipped to their first defeat of the season as they lost 2-0 at home to Chorley in the National League North. Goals from Jonathan Ustabasi and Oliver Shenton condemned Billy Heath’s side to defeat. The Reds now find themselves in seventh position in the league table.

Elsewhere in the National League North, Buxton drew 1-1 away at AFC Telford United. An excellent free-kick from Sean Newton gave the Bucks the lead in the 43rd minute but were pegged back immediately when Brendon Daniels equalised for the hosts just before the interval. Jamie Vermiglio’s side remain in 19th position in the league table.

A last-gasp equaliser from Alex Byrne salvaged a point for Matlock Town as they drew 1-1 at home against Gainsborough Trinity in the Northern Premier League Premier Division. Liam Waldock gave the visitors the lead after 14 minutes and it looked like it was going to be a frustrating defeat for the Gladiators. However, Byrne’s dramatic goal from a free-kick in stoppage time rescued a point for Paul Phillips’s side. The Gladiators have moved up to 12th position in the table.

In the NWCFL Division One South league, New Mills put in a great performance to beat Sandbach United 4-1 at Church Lane. First-half goals from Raheem Hanley and Kyle Hawley gave the Millers a 2-0 lead at the interval. Teddy Osipitan made it 3-0 in the 55th minute before Willam Booth scored a penalty in reply for the visitors. Osipitan then bagged another to make it 4-1 in the 83rd minute. New Mills are now up to ninth in the league table.
