Star striker Kabongo Tshimanga scored yet again for Chesterfield as they beat Grimsby Town 1-0 at Blundell Park to remain top of the National League. The game looked like it was going to end as a goalless stalemate but a superb volley from Tshimanga in the 85th minute gave the Spireites all three points. Chesterfield are one point clear of Boreham Wood at the top of the division.

Alfreton Town drew 1-1 with Gloucester City at The Impact Arena in the National League North. Alfreton fell behind after 48 minutes but equalised shortly afterwards thanks to a Matt Rhead goal. The draw means that Alfreton still sit just outside the play-off places in eighth position.
Buxton remain on top of the Northern Premier League Premier Division after they cruised to a 3-0 victory at home against Ashton United. Jamie Ward, Tom Elliott and Dom Tear scored the goals to keep Buxton’s excellent run of form going.
Buxton’s fierce rivals Matlock Town have moved up from third to second in the NPL Premier Division following an important 2-0 victory over Stalybridge Celtic at Bower Fold. Remarkably, this was Matlock’s first victory at the home of the Celts since the 1989/90 season. Second half goals from Ryan Qualter and Jesurun Uchegbulam gave the Gladiators maximum points and means the club remain two points behind the Bucks. The derby game between Matlock Town and Buxton on December 27 promises to be an absolute cracker and a very feisty affair!
